How to Obtain

Obtained midway through Chapter 13.

Movesets

  • Basic combo: Normal slashes, one of them leaves behind a hologram like with Trident of the Oracle. The last attack is a slow, but powerful strike that gives you +200 strength for 5 seconds.
  • Aerial combo: Same as with normal swords.
  • Phase counter: Stab.
  • Warp strike: Normal warp strike that leaves behind a hologram. Consumes very little health.
  • How to use: Use the strong combo finisher to put enemies in vulnerability state and then hack them with your strength boost. Other than that, it's a decent sword, comparable to the best swords in the game. Also, the stat boosts are very nice.

Additional Information

  • Trait: Holograms. Noctis' warp strike and the low thrust from his standard combo leave behind a damaging hologram, like the Trident of the Oracle.
  • Trait: Strength Buff. Successfully starting a finisher (the overhead hold stance into a singular downwards slash) grants Noctis a short (about 2 seconds), but powerful +300 strength buff. Essentially, the finisher is pretty damn strong (though not particularly when considering the base damage of the sword). You're looking for the moment where Noctis' hands glow blue (similar to the Blade of the Mystic).
  • Makes aerial close-ups (the mini warp that brings you closer to enemies while airborne) no longer cost MP when attacking with it.
  • Protip: You can skip straight to the finisher (the same for many other weapons) by starting a combo, pausing, and during the flourish where Noctis returns his weapon to the Armiger, press attack again. For the Sword of the Father, you won't go straight into the finisher, but into the straight thrust right before the finisher.
