Daurell Caverns (Menace) is a Level 72 Menace Dungeon locked behind the vault in Daurell Caverns.

Guide

A Menace Sleeps in Daurell has one of the more challenging tasks of finding the entrance to the dungeon, mainly down to the fact the front door is being blocked by a couple of Pyromancers that you’re going to want to deal with upon entering the regular version of this dungeon. Take the path to the left and continue heading in that direction where you will eventually come in contact with an Iron Giant and a couple of other enemies that don’t take too long to slay. Once their defeated you should “blink” over to where the Iron Giant spawned in, drop the ladder down, and make your way through the small hole that’s located in the wall to finally make a start on the secret dungeon; a secret dungeon you’ll want to be around level 72 for.

Throughout the dungeon you will be up against a variety of different combatants that don’t tend to have any weapon-specific weaknesses, with the only exception of the Shieldshears – these guys really don’t like polearms being used on them. For the remainder of the dungeon, it’s best to just go with the weapons that you feel deal the most amount of DPS against the oncoming enemies.

A lot of this dungeon, similar to many of the other secret dungeons, there’s a lot of linearity as you make your way to the end of the dungeon, so expect to simply hold up on your controller until you come across some enemies and do what you will to take them out. Eventually on your journey you will come in contact with some mini-slime like creatures that could easily spend a good couple of minutes enduring all of your physical strikes. Of all the enemies in this dungeon, this is the only one that is really going to need some affinity of magic used against it or Ring of the Lucil should do it – otherwise you’ll be stuck swinging at them for way longer than you should be comfortable for.

Soon enough you will enter a room with multiple exits and the pathway to the left of where you entered is where you’ll find the continuation of the dungeon; along with a couple of separate pathways that will gain you a couple of different items.

As you continue on, you’re bound to come across a campsite that I would certainly recommend using before you press on, as you’re about to find a mini-boss. Just before you leave, be sure to pick up the nearby item and weapon: the Duel Code greatsword.

Once you’ve left the campsite behind, you will come across a mini-boss for this dungeon that has a considerable amount of health and some rather damaging sweeping attacks that come at you whether you’re far away or up close. With this in mind, any attack that you set your sights on, you’re going to want to dodge or block as best you can because otherwise you’re going to be losing a fair chunk of your health in one fell swoop.

Shortly after you defeat the mini-boss and continue to venture on, you will be introduced to the main boss of the dungeon that goes by the name of Mahanaga – a demon of snake-like origin. If you’re not careful this boss can certainly knock you down a peg or two, because it can petrify you, turn you into a toad, and knock you on your behind with a large, sweeping attack. Thankfully, the monster isn’t the biggest fan of swords or lightning, so if you keep that in mind you won’t have to worry about too much during this fight – just be sure to keep on your toes and you’ll be fine.

By the time everything is done and dusted, you will be rewarded in the form of the Precision Lance; thus symbolising the end of the dungeon.
