#Complete [[Navyth]]'s [[Fishing Quests]]. The quest that you will want to get to is [[The Devil of the Cygillian]] which can be found at [[Galdin Quay]]. This fish is around the same difficulty as the Liege, but takes slightly less time and is very easy to see which direction it is moving. It took me 10 minutes to catch this fish. After catching the fish, Navyth will deem you a [[Living Legend]] and he will give you the rod [[Tranquility]], which has 290 [[defense]]. Defense allows the durability of the line to decay slower, which is very good for the Liege.
#Use the Needle 1,000: Gold Cactuar. The Liege seems to enjoy this type of lure.
#Use Dragon's Beard line. This is the longest lasting line you can get at the current time, with 2000 durability.
# Have the Nereid reel. It gives you 270 attack, which allows you to reel in faster.
#Wait for a clear day. If you do the quest on a day that it is raining, then it is harder to see the fish struggling in the water so you cant predict its movements. Wait for a clear day so you can see where the fish is moving.
#Catch him. With the new rod, I caught the Liege on the 1st try, with 200 durability left. Took me 25 minutes, but I got it. You are rewarded with the Big Blaze Mahamut lure, which attracts most fishes and if the line snaps while the lure is on, it will come back to you. The Liege that I caught was around 180 pounds, 82 inches.
*To ensure that your line lasts as long as possible, turn ON controller vibration. When the controller stops vibrating, that is the perfect time to reel. You will usually have a 1-3 second window of time where the fish will not struggle. If you reel while the fish is struggling, then it will lower your sustainability. Also be PATIENT. If you rush, there is a higher chance you will lose.
*If you fish out the lake and you still don't see the fish, don't worry. The Liege is usually a flashing blue dot. Sometimes the fish has no dot, so throw the line and reel in until you see it in the water, then re cast in the general location until it bites.
